Pipedrive pipeline review: top deals and the ones with no next step

This recipe uses the official Pipedrive MCP server, and it works in Claude and ChatGPT. Steps that write, send or spend credits wait for your approval.

Who is this for?

Account executives and sales managers on Pipedrive who want a weekly pipeline review without clicking through every deal. You get the open deals ranked, the ones with no next activity or an overdue one flagged, and, after you approve, follow-up activities and notes added in Pipedrive. Everything runs inside one connector, so it works in a chat app with no setup beyond the Pipedrive sign-in.

What do you get?

Pipeline review for one rep, nothing changed yet. Sample output: every company and person in it is fictional.

Pipeline: New business. Owner: Dana Okafor. Open deals: 14, total value $186,400. Top 5 by value and stage:

Needs a next step: - Quarry Lane Analytics: in Negotiation with no activity planned and no reply in 15 days. - Fernhill Software: the follow-up call on Oct 21 was never marked done. - Birchway Clinics: no activity and no email history. Proposed activities (not created): - Quarry Lane Analytics: call Sam Whitlock, Oct 30, 'Confirm the redlines and the signer.' - Fernhill Software: reschedule the follow-up call to Oct 31 and leave the old one open for you to close. - Birchway Clinics: email task, Nov 1, 'Send the two-line recap and ask for a discovery call.' No deals, activities or notes were changed.

How long does it take, and what does it cost?

Estimate About 15–25 minutes, most of it reading the flagged deals and approving the follow-ups.

Assumptions: One pipeline with 10 to 30 open deals, one rep, reviewed once a week.

Exact credit costs depend on your plan with each vendor. Check the tool pages before a large run.

Developer setup

Auth setup and mcp.json for Claude Code and Cursor
  • Pipedrive: Sign in with OAuth in your client (run /mcp in Claude Code). Do it once interactively, and the client stores and refreshes the token.

Put this in .mcp.json (Claude Code, project root) or ~/.cursor/mcp.json (Cursor). Swap the example keys for your own, and don't commit real ones. Remove the // comment lines if your client requires strict JSON.

Step-by-step prompts

  1. Get my Pipedrive account context and list the pipelines and stages. Show me the pipeline names and wait for me to pick {pipeline} and the owner {owner}.
  2. List the open deals in {pipeline} owned by {owner}. For each deal show the organization, stage, value, expected close date, and the next planned activity. Mark a deal when it has no planned activity, or when its next activity is past due and not done. Don't change anything.
  3. Rank the top {top_n} deals by value and stage. For each of them, read the email messages linked to the deal if email sync is on, and add the date and one line on the last email. If there are no synced emails, say so instead of guessing.
  4. For every deal that needs a next step, propose one activity: the type, the date, the contact, and a one-line subject. Show the list as a table and wait. After I approve it, create only the activities I approve and add a short note to each of those deals saying why. Don't move stages, change values, or mark anything done.
  5. Give me a short summary I can paste into my weekly update: open count, total value, the top deals, and the deals that still need a next step. Keep it here as text.

Can I run it on a schedule? (optional)
