Single-threaded deal alert: find the missing signers and draft multi-threading intros
HubSpot + ZoomInfo
Who it's for
AEs and sales leaders who want to catch open deals that hang on one contact, before a reorg or a quiet champion stalls them. It compares each deal's contacts with the people who usually sign (finance, security, an exec sponsor), finds who is missing, and drafts intro emails as text. HubSpot can be swapped for Salesforce, Attio or Pipedrive, and ZoomInfo for Cognism or Apollo.
What you get
Signer gaps on open deals, ZoomInfo matches and one intro draft. Sample output: every company and person in it is fictional.
Open deals over $25k closing this quarter: 5. Single-threaded or missing a usual signer: 3. | Deal | Stage | Contacts on deal | Missing | |---|---|---|---| | Quarry Lane Analytics (fictional), platform | Proposal | Sam Whitlock (Head of RevOps) | Finance, security, exec sponsor | | Larkspur Freightworks (fictional), expansion | Negotiation | Dana Okafor (VP Ops), Alex Rivera (IT Manager) | Finance | | Mossgate Labs (fictional), new logo | Discovery | Priya Raman (Director, Sales Ops) | Exec sponsor | ZoomInfo search at Quarry Lane Analytics (free search, no enrichment yet): - Lena Hoyt, VP Finance - Marcus Bell, Director of Information Security - Ruth Adeyemi, Chief Revenue Officer Waiting for approval: enrich 3 contacts at Quarry Lane to get work emails. This uses ZoomInfo data credits (records your org enriched in the past 12 months are free). Nothing has been enriched yet. Draft to Sam (text only, not sent): Subject: Who else should see the proposal? Hi Sam, Thanks for pushing the proposal forward. Teams your size usually loop in finance and security before signing, and it goes faster when they see it early. Would you be open to a short intro to Lena Hoyt and Marcus Bell? I can send a one-page summary for each so it's quick for them. Jordan Draft to Lena Hoyt (text only, not sent): Subject: Quarry Lane and the RevOps proposal Hi Lena, Sam Whitlock and I have been working on a forecasting proposal for your RevOps team. Finance usually has questions on cost and payback, so I'd like to answer them before anything reaches you for signature. Would 20 minutes next week work? Jordan
Time and cost
Estimate About 15–25 minutes a week, most of it choosing who to approach.
Assumptions: One weekly run over about 5 open deals, with ZoomInfo search at 2 or 3 accounts and about 3 contacts enriched after approval.
- HubSpot: Reads only: one search for open deals, then the associated contacts and their titles for each deal. No records are changed. Credit use not confirmed by HubSpot.
- ZoomInfo: One free contact search per account with gaps, then after you approve, one contact enrichment call for the people you pick. Enrichment uses data credits; search does not. Some tools use credits. Data credits: Enrich Companies/Contacts (1 per new record, up to 10 per call), Enrich Company Signals (1 per new signal), Upsert Audience/Manage Audience Rows (1 per new matched record). AI credits: Account/Contact Research (most calls 5-15), Conversation Intelligence (at least 9), Audience Analysis (scales with audience). Search, Lookup, Find Similar/Recommended, GTM Context and audience browsing are free. Records enriched by the org in the past 12 months are free to re-enrich. Source: gtm.ai, checked 2026-10-16

Auth setup and mcp.json for Claude Code and Cursor
- HubSpot: Sign in with OAuth in your client (run
/mcpin Claude Code). Do it once interactively, and the client stores and refreshes the token. - ZoomInfo: Sign in with OAuth in your client (run

Put this in .mcp.json (Claude Code, project root) or ~/.cursor/mcp.json (Cursor). Swap the example keys for your own, and don't commit real ones. Remove the // comment lines if your client requires strict JSON.

Step-by-step prompts
- Find my open deals in HubSpot in {stages} closing before {date}. For each deal, list the associated contacts and their job titles. Map each one to finance, security, exec sponsor, champion or other. Don't change any records.
- For each deal, tell me which of finance, security and exec sponsor are missing. Before calling a role missing, check the other contacts on the HubSpot company record. Show a table: deal, stage, amount, contacts on deal, missing roles.
- For the deals I pick, search ZoomInfo for people at the company with titles like {titles} for the missing roles. Use search only, no enrichment. Show name, title and department.
- For the people I choose, enrich them in ZoomInfo to get a work email only after I approve it. Tell me how many records you'll enrich and that it uses data credits before you start.
- Draft two kinds of email as text: a note to my champion asking for an intro to the missing people, and a short direct intro to each missing person that mentions the deal and why they'd care. Don't send anything.
Run it on a schedule (optional)
- Run it weekly, or before a forecast call, on deals in the later stages. A missing finance or security contact matters most near the close date.
- In a scheduled run, read HubSpot and run the free ZoomInfo search, then stop. Approve enrichment and review drafts yourself.
- Leaders can run it across the team's open deals and send each AE their own gap list, instead of drafting for them.
Where this goes wrong
- Titles that don't map to a signer role. "Head of Platform" may or may not own security. Show the title next to the role you matched it to, and mark anything unsure as "check" instead of counting it as covered.
- Contacts that exist but aren't on the deal. The CFO may be in HubSpot on the company record but not associated with the deal. Check company contacts before calling a role missing, and before spending credits on ZoomInfo.
- Credits spent on people you won't contact. Run the free ZoomInfo search first and enrich only the 1 or 2 people per deal you picked. Show the count and that it uses data credits before you approve.
- Going around the champion. A cold note to the CFO can upset the person who brought you in. Draft the ask to your champion first, and only draft direct notes where you've decided that's right.
Gotchas
- ZoomInfo search, lookup and find similar or recommended contacts are free. Enrich Contacts uses 1 data credit per new record, up to 10 per call. Records your org enriched in the past 12 months are free to re-enrich.
- ZoomInfo MCP can't draw from the recurring monthly credits that some older subscriptions carry. Check how your credits work before the first run.
- ZoomInfo's account and contact research agents use AI credits (most calls 5–15). This recipe doesn't need them, so tell it not to.
- Using Cognism instead? Its people search is read-only and uses 1 search token per record returned, and the contacts view also uses 1 credit per person revealed. Counts are free, so ask for a count first.
- Using Salesforce instead? The hosted Salesforce MCP server can read opportunities and related records with SOQL, but it needs Enterprise Edition or above and an admin-created External Client App, and every tool call counts against the org's daily API request quota.
- In HubSpot, non-admin users need a Super Admin to approve the connector first.
