Claude vs ChatGPT for sales: which connects to more tools listed here?

Updated 2026-11-02. This text was written on that date. Each listing keeps its own checked date.

84 of the 92 listed sales and GTM tools have an official MCP server confirmed for Claude, and 67 for ChatGPT. 65 are confirmed for both. The newest listing check is November 2, 2026. Older rows keep their own date.

StackMCP is an independent directory. We don't sell either assistant. Confirmed means the vendor's own docs say the official MCP server works in that app. Not confirmed means those docs don't say. It doesn't mean no.

The count, by category

Each number is a count of listed tools in that category whose vendor docs confirm that app. The same rule builds the Claude and ChatGPT pages. A bold category is one where those two counts differ. The other three columns use the same listings.

Tools confirmed for only one

Confirmed for only one means the listing is yes for that assistant and not yes for the other. It is not a claim that the other app cannot connect.

Confirmed for Claude, not confirmed for ChatGPT

2 of the 19 are a Developer Preview. They stay in the confirmed counts.

Slack's MCP page names its partner clients. ChatGPT is not in that list. ChatGPT has its own Slack app. OpenAI says eligible Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu users can connect it. This directory does not list that app as Slack's MCP server.

Gmail and Google Calendar are on the Claude list because Google's docs name Claude. ChatGPT is not confirmed for those MCP servers. ChatGPT can connect Google apps such as Gmail, Calendar, and Drive. This directory does not list those apps as Google's MCP servers.

When you connect a Google app such as Gmail, Calendar, or Drive, ChatGPT can access information needed for the supported requests you make, subject to your Google account permissions and workspace settings.

How we count

A tool is confirmed when its listing's clients value is yes. That value is set from the vendor's docs, and the tool page links the page we read. Unknown stays not confirmed. These counts use one row per tool, the same list as the works-in pages. The directory has 98 official listings across 92 tools. Variant rows are not counted again. The page is rebuilt from the listings when the site is built. The daily job checks endpoints. It does not re-read every vendor doc. How we check.

Questions

Does Claude or ChatGPT work with more listed sales tools?

84 of 92 listed tools are confirmed for Claude, and 67 for ChatGPT. 65 are confirmed for both. 17 more tools are confirmed for Claude than for ChatGPT. The newest listing check is November 2, 2026. A missing confirmation is not a no.

What plan do I need to connect a sales tool?

Claude's help center says custom connectors are on Free, Pro, Max, Ultra, Team, and Enterprise, and that free users are limited to one custom connector. OpenAI's help article says full custom MCP support is for Business and Enterprise/Edu on ChatGPT web, and that Pro users can connect custom MCP servers with read and fetch permissions. That article says custom MCP servers are web only. It does not name Free or Plus. A vendor can add its own rule. HubSpot's Claude article requires a paid Anthropic subscription. HubSpot's ChatGPT article says the connector is available to all HubSpot customers across all tiers with an OpenAI account.

Can a free Claude or ChatGPT account connect a sales tool?

Claude's help center says custom connectors are available on the Free plan, and that free users are limited to one custom connector. OpenAI's custom MCP article names Business, Enterprise/Edu, and Pro. It does not name Free or Plus for a custom MCP server. Whether a directory app is available in ChatGPT depends on the app, the plan, the region, the workspace, the role, the model, and the interface.

Who has to approve connectors on a team plan?

In Claude, an Owner or Primary Owner enables a connector for the organization, and each person then authenticates. On Team, only Owners and Primary Owners can add custom connectors. On Enterprise, a person with a custom role that includes Manage access to Libraries can too. Member requests are on by default on Team and off by default on Enterprise. In ChatGPT Business, only admins and owners can create and publish plugins for custom MCP servers. Enterprise and Edu admins can grant creation rights with RBAC, and then choose who can access each vetted app.

Can I stop the assistant from changing records?

In Claude, Team and Enterprise owners can set each permission category or permission to Always allow, Needs approval, or Blocked. The help center says individual users can't override that org setting. In ChatGPT, permission choices include Always ask, Allow read actions, and Allow low-risk actions. Allow all actions is not offered in the standard account-wide or workspace-wide selectors. Enterprise and Edu admins can enable or disable app actions after publishing. New actions are disabled by default. Claude's help center says Claude inherits each person's permissions from the connected service.

Does either assistant train on connected data?

Anthropic's consumer article names Claude Free, Pro, and Max. It says we will use chats and coding sessions, including to improve models, if you choose to allow that use. The same article says raw connector content, including remote and local MCP servers, is not included unless it is copied into the chat. Anthropic's commercial article says inputs and outputs from commercial products are not used to train models by default, and that feedback is a separate choice. OpenAI says Business, Enterprise, and Edu app data is not used to train models by default. For Free, Plus, Go, and Pro, OpenAI may use information accessed from apps if Improve the model for everyone is on. OpenAI's Google app article says it does not train its generalized models on data accessed directly from connected Google apps, even if that setting is on.

What about Cursor, Claude Code, and Copilot?

The same listings confirm 56 tools for Cursor, 53 for Claude Code, and 22 for GitHub Copilot. Copilot here means GitHub Copilot. Each works-in page lists the tools whose vendor docs confirm that app.
