Salesforce MCP server

CRM & Deal Management · remote · Not probed · Docs checked 2026-10-16

Salesforce has an official hosted MCP server at https://api.salesforce.com/platform/mcp/v1/platform/sobject-all. It uses OAuth 2.0 authorization code flow with PKCE via an admin-created External Client App (scopes mcp_api + refresh_token); no DCR, no client-credentials over Remote HTTP (hosted by Salesforce; mcp-remote stdio bridge not supported). Agents can use: SOQL query (soqlQuery) and SOSL search (find), object schema (describeGlobal, getObjectSchema), related and recent records.

Connect Salesforce without code

Salesforce's docs confirm it works in Claude and ChatGPT. You don't need a terminal or a config file. Check Salesforce's docs first: some vendors give you a personal URL or an API key to use in place of the plain endpoint.

Claude (web and desktop app)

If Salesforce shows up when you browse connectors in Claude, connect it from there instead. That skips steps 2 to 4.

  1. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors.
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it “Salesforce”, paste the server URL https://api.salesforce.com/platform/mcp/v1/platform/sobject-all, and click Continue.
  4. Review the sign-in settings Claude detected and click Add.
  5. Click Connect and sign in to Salesforce. Then ask Claude something like “What can the Salesforce connector do?”

On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds the connector first under Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web. Each person then connects it from Customize → Connectors. Free plans can add one custom connector.

ChatGPT

If Salesforce has its own plugin in ChatGPT's directory, install that instead.

  1. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins.
  2. Select +, then Add custom MCP server. If you don't see it, your plan or workspace settings may not allow custom servers, so ask your workspace admin.
  3. Enter a name and description. Under Connection, paste the server URL https://api.salesforce.com/platform/mcp/v1/platform/sobject-all.
  4. Set up sign-in, read the warning, and select I understand and want to continue.
  5. Select Create as a plugin. In a new chat, type @ and pick Salesforce.
Steps from the OpenAI developer docs: developers.openai.com, checked 2026-10-16
From Salesforce's docs: Each client needs an External Client App with that client's callback URL (Cursor: cursor://anysphere.cursor-mcp/oauth/callback). ChatGPT requires developer mode. Microsoft Copilot Studio is supported via a Salesforce wiki guide (consumer Copilot app is not); GitHub Copilot is listed as MCP-capable but not covered by Salesforce's guides. The mcp-remote bridge is not supported.Source: github.com, checked 2026-10-16

Developer setup (Claude Code, Cursor)

Add this to .mcp.json (Claude Code, project root) or ~/.cursor/mcp.json (Cursor). Remove the // comment line if your client requires strict JSON.

  "mcpServers": {
    "salesforce": {
      "url": "https://api.salesforce.com/platform/mcp/v1/platform/sobject-all"
    }
  }
}
  1. Add the endpoint to your client config (above), or as a custom connector in Claude.
  2. Complete the OAuth sign-in. In Claude Code, run /mcp and pick the server.
  3. Test it with a prompt like: “List the tools the Salesforce MCP server exposes.”

Salesforce MCP authentication

OAuth 2.0 authorization code flow with PKCE via an admin-created External Client App (scopes mcp_api + refresh_token); no DCR, no client-credentials

Sign in with OAuth in your client (run /mcp in Claude Code). Do it once interactively, and the client stores and refreshes the token.
