Smithery URL stopped working? Official MCP URLs for sales tools
Smithery shut down hosted URLs on run.tools and server.smithery.ai, plus accounts and API keys, on October 31, 2026, and deprecated its CLI. Replace each URL with the vendor endpoint below and sign in again. 90 of 90 hosted endpoints answered the daily check on 2026-11-02 14:02 PT.
Source: smithery.ai/future. The notice is titled "Smithery's MCP Proxy and managed identity shut down on October 31". Checked 2026-11-02.
What Smithery shut down, and what stays
On October 31, 2026, we're shutting down Smithery's connection management services. Smithery will remain as a public (non-proxied) MCP registry.
What stays
- smithery.ai, as a public directory of MCP servers, now powered by Arcade.dev
- A curated set of verified servers, whose registry pages will show direct MCP URLs (e.g. mcp.linear.app/mcp instead of linear.run.tools or server.smithery.ai/linear).
What stops on October 31, 2026
- Server URLs on run.tools and server.smithery.ai
- Smithery API, Connect, and Toolbox
- Smithery accounts and API keys
- The Smithery CLI and SDKs. We'll mark the current versions as deprecated.
What Smithery tells you to do: "Using a server yourself? Switch to the vendor's official MCP URL. Smithery URLs stop working on October 31, and connecting through Smithery won't be possible after that." It also says: "You can find the official URL on the server's page on smithery.ai."
Paid plans: "We're refunding every charge since August 5 and cancelling your subscription going forward. You won't be charged again."
Signed Anirudh Kamath, Cofounder, Smithery (now part of Arcade).
The HubSpot, Salesforce, and Gong pages on smithery.ai show "Not found · Smithery" and repeat the notice. The Linear page shows https://mcp.linear.app/mcp. Linear is not a listing here. The Smithery homepage also has this line: "Arcade's agent-optimized HubSpot tools, with auth and credentials handled for you." Those are Arcade's own tools, not the HubSpot endpoint in the table below.
Our check of the old URLs
Checked 2026-11-02. No credentials were sent, and no account was created. Smithery's own examples returned 401. Other example paths we tried returned 401 for some names and 404 for others, with the body "Server not found". A made-up name returned 404 as well. A 401 on an example path is not proof that Smithery published that name.
Where a 401 named a protected-resource document, a follow-up GET of that document (still with no credentials) named an auth.smithery.ai authorization server. Those authorization-server URLs returned 404. One protected-resource document returned 200 even though the server URL next to it returned 404. The table below has each response. We did not test a signed-in session. The notice says accounts and API keys stopped, so this check does not claim an old token still works.

Find your Smithery URLs
Search your config for run.tools and server.smithery.ai. The notice names those. It says the CLI and SDKs will be marked deprecated. It does not name an npm package. Smithery's CLI source includes const npxArgs = ["-y", "@smithery/cli@latest", "run", qualifiedName]. The package.json in that repository includes "name": "smithery". The shapes https://server.smithery.ai/<name>/mcp, https://<name>.run.tools are example shapes. They are not confirmed names for each tool.
In Claude, Anthropic's help says "Navigate to Organization settings > Connectors." for Team and Enterprise owners, and "Navigate to Customize > Connectors." for members and for Pro and Max plans. In ChatGPT, OpenAI's developer docs say "Go to ChatGPT Plugins." and "Select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.". Look for smithery in the URL. Sources: Smithery CLI source, package.json, Claude Help Center, and OpenAI developer docs. The file on disk depends on the app and the operating system. This example searches JSON files in your home directory. It can be slow, and it will miss settings that are not in a JSON file.
grep -rE 'run\.tools|server\.smithery\.ai|@smithery/cli' "$HOME" --include='*.json' 2>/dev/null
Smithery URL to official URL, by tool
This table maps 90 listings with an official hosted endpoint. 9 listings have no official hosted endpoint. This site's own server is not in either count. "Answered" in the summary at the top means the latest stored daily result is Up or Up · auth. That was 90 of 90 on 2026-11-02 14:02 PT.
The old URL column says not confirmed on every row. Smithery's notice gives only one example, for Linear, and Linear is not in this directory. The notice says: "A curated set of verified servers, whose registry pages will show direct MCP URLs (e.g. mcp.linear.app/mcp instead of linear.run.tools or server.smithery.ai/linear)."
The box matches a slug or a display name from the listings. It has no list of alternate Smithery names. If nothing matches, it does not guess a URL.

What changes when you switch
Sign in again. The notice lists "Smithery accounts and API keys" among what stops, and it says "Using a server yourself? Switch to the vendor's official MCP URL. Smithery URLs stop working on October 31, and connecting through Smithery won't be possible after that." Paste the vendor endpoint into Claude, ChatGPT, or your client, and use that vendor's sign-in. Then read the tool page for what it can write.

Is smithery.ai still useful?
Yes, as a registry that no longer proxies traffic. The notice describes it as "smithery.ai, as a public directory of MCP servers, now powered by Arcade.dev". Use it to discover a server. For a sales tool we list, paste the vendor endpoint above, not an Arcade entry. For example, the Smithery homepage says: "Arcade's agent-optimized HubSpot tools, with auth and credentials handled for you."
How we check
Each source link shows the date the listing was last checked against the vendor's docs. It is not the day this page was edited. The status badge uses the daily probe, which sends no credentials. The Smithery URL log above is a separate check. Checked 2026-11-02. Updated 2026-11-02.
Method and labels are on the About page. Daily results are on Status. The weekly email covers new MCP servers, auth changes, and breakages. Subscribe.
FAQ
Did Smithery shut down?
Yes. Smithery's notice says "Smithery's MCP Proxy and managed identity shut down on October 31". It also says "On October 31, 2026, we're shutting down Smithery's connection management services. Smithery will remain as a public (non-proxied) MCP registry." What stops includes "Server URLs on run.tools and server.smithery.ai", "Smithery API, Connect, and Toolbox", "Smithery accounts and API keys", and "The Smithery CLI and SDKs. We'll mark the current versions as deprecated." What stays includes "smithery.ai, as a public directory of MCP servers, now powered by Arcade.dev". Checked 2026-11-02.
What replaces my Smithery URL for HubSpot, Salesforce, or Gong?
Use each vendor endpoint and sign in again. HubSpot is https://mcp.hubspot.com. Salesforce is https://api.salesforce.com/platform/mcp/v1/platform/sobject-all. Gong is https://mcp.gong.io/mcp. The Admin step column says who has to act, and the Latest check column has the daily status.
Do I need to sign in again?
Yes. The notice says "Smithery accounts and API keys" stopped, and "Using a server yourself? Switch to the vendor's official MCP URL. Smithery URLs stop working on October 31, and connecting through Smithery won't be possible after that." On 2026-11-02, some example URLs returned 401, and the authorization server they name returned 404. The check log has the status, content type, and the start of each body. Read the tool page before you rely on a write. The vendor server can expose different tools than the one you used.
How do I find Smithery URLs in my config?
Search for run.tools, server.smithery.ai, and @smithery/cli. The notice names the first two and says the CLI will be marked deprecated. It does not print the npm package name. Smithery's CLI source does include @smithery/cli. The example search on this page looks through JSON files in your home directory. In Claude, Anthropic's help says to open Organization settings, then Connectors, or Customize, then Connectors. In ChatGPT, OpenAI's docs say to go to ChatGPT Plugins, then add a custom MCP server.
Is the official server the same one I used on Smithery?
Not confirmed. The notice tells you to switch to the vendor URL. It does not say the old server and the vendor server expose the same tools. One Smithery homepage entry reads: "Arcade's agent-optimized HubSpot tools, with auth and credentials handled for you." Those are Arcade's own tools, not the vendor endpoint in this table.
Is smithery.ai still useful?
Yes, as a registry. The notice says "smithery.ai, as a public directory of MCP servers, now powered by Arcade.dev" Verified pages show a direct URL. The Linear page shows https://mcp.linear.app/mcp. Linear is not a listing here. The HubSpot, Salesforce, and Gong registry pages show "Not found · Smithery" and repeat the shutdown notice. For a tool we list, paste the endpoint from this page.
Does the new URL work on the latest check?
On the latest daily check, 2026-11-02 14:02 PT, 90 of 90 hosted endpoints answered. Answered means the latest stored result is Up or Up · auth. Other rows say Unknown, or they have no daily result yet. That check does not sign in as you.
