What do I need before I start?

Check the Plan and Setup rows in the box above. If Setup says Needs admin or IT, ask them before you start.

Need IT or RevOps to approve it? Send them the Gong IT approval one-pager.

How do I connect it to Claude or ChatGPT?

Gong's docs confirm it works in Claude and ChatGPT. You don't need a terminal or a config file. Check Gong's docs first: some vendors give you a personal URL or an API key to use in place of the plain endpoint.

Claude (web and desktop app)

If Gong shows up when you browse connectors in Claude, connect it from there instead. That skips steps 2 to 4.

  1. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors.
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it “Gong”, paste the server URL https://mcp.gong.io/mcp, and click Continue.
  4. Review the sign-in settings Claude detected and click Add.
  5. Click Connect and sign in to Gong. Then ask Claude something like “What can the Gong connector do?”

On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds the connector first under Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web. Each person then connects it from Customize → Connectors. Free plans can add one custom connector.

ChatGPT

If Gong has its own plugin in ChatGPT's directory, install that instead.

  1. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins.
  2. Select +, then Add custom MCP server. If you don't see it, your plan or workspace settings may not allow custom servers, so ask your workspace admin.
  3. Enter a name and description. Under Connection, paste the server URL https://mcp.gong.io/mcp.
  4. Set up sign-in, read the warning, and select I understand and want to continue.
  5. Select Create as a plugin. In a new chat, type @ and pick Gong.

From Gong's docs: A Gong tech admin must first create an MCP server integration (registration type automatic or manual; authorization context personal or shared, fixed at creation). Gong also lists Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio as a supported connector (Microsoft Copilot, not GitHub Copilot).Source: help.gong.io, checked 2026-10-16

How do I connect it to Claude Code or Cursor?

Gong's docs don't confirm Claude Code or Cursor yet. See the Gong MCP docs for current options.

What about Grok Bot or another assistant?

Gong's docs don't name Grok Bot, and this site doesn't track Grok Bot support yet. If your assistant lets you add a connector by URL (a remote MCP server), give it the details below. Follow Gong's docs for any extra steps.

Server URL
https://mcp.gong.io/mcp
Sign-in
OAuth 2.0 (admin-registered integration: automatic registration or manual client ID/secret; scopes mcp:read / mcp:write)
Transport
Remote HTTP (JSON-RPC)

Does it use credits?

Every call uses credits

All three tools (ask_account, ask_deal, generate_brief) consume Gong credits based on the volume of calls and emails analyzed; briefs cost more per open-ended section. Same consumption as the equivalent API requests.
